Nitrous oxide in a medical context and the risk of addiction

The N2O network was pleased to take part in the CHU Lille pain forum, where we addressed a subject of growing importance in the healthcare field: the use of nitrous oxide in medical settings and the associated risks of addiction.

We had the privilege of listening to Dr Damien Scliffet and Prof Daniel Annequin, whose contributions shed valuable and enriching light on the subject, as well as reflecting on medical issues and safe practices.

Our message: it is essential to raise awareness of the risks of addiction to nitrous oxide, while recognizing its indispensable therapeutic role. Supervised use, accompanied by appropriate monitoring, is the key to ensuring the safety of patients and professionals alike.
